The first books of Wainwright Walks were the seven volumes of the Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells. These published in what has become well known as Wainwright's distinctive style consisting of sketches and hand-drawn maps with hand-written text. Many of his later books though, included colour photographs and were often in larger format.
