Medical-Surgical and Crucial Care Nursing
The Department of Nursing in the School of Science, Engineering and Health at Messiah College invites applications for a full-time/term-tenure track or clinical track faculty position in Medical-Surgical and Critical Care Nursing to begin in August 2014. Responsibilities: Teach a variety of undergraduate courses including: Nursing Care of Adults and Older Adults, Nursing Care of the Critically Ill, Nursing Research, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Nursing Assessment. Doctorally prepared candidates (PhD or DNP) will have the opportunity to teach graduate level courses as new graduate programs evolve. Faculty will have advising and institutional service responsibilities as well as continuing in their own scholarship and practice. Qualifications: Master of Science degree in nursing with appropriate graduate courses in a relevant clinical discipline required with appropriate clinical practice certifications; doctorate in nursing highly preferred (PhD or DNP), or current enrollment in doctoral study. Will consider candidates who make a solid commitment to pursue doctoral study upon appointment. Current, relevant clinical practice required. Previous college teaching experience preferred. Candidate should have a commitment to excellence in teaching in a Christian Liberal Arts setting and to ongoing scholarship, service, and practice in nursing. The Program: The program enjoys a reputation for high quality classroom and clinical instruction producing well-prepared graduates who are preferred for hire in local and regional health care institutions. The Department: The Department of Nursing offers a baccalaureate nursing program and a newly launched master’s in nursing program—nurse educator track. A majority of full-time faculty are doctorally prepared and energetically seek innovative scholarship opportunities in practice and teaching. New simulation laboratories include advanced simulation laboratories with medium and high-fidelity human simulators. Faculty are committed to the integration of Christian faith in the practice of the nursing profession. The undergraduate nursing program is just recently reaccredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
